White Turkey questions

I just bought a white turkey poult at Atwood's this weekend. I was just wondering about them. How fast to they grow? What age do you butcher them?

If it is a broad breasted white turkey, they grow pretty fast. They reach butchering weight between 16-20 weeks. You can definitely grow them beyond that but they do get quite large. I processed my BBWs last year at 22 weeks and they were hen25lbs, hen25.5lbs, tom32lbs and tom37lbs.

If you dont have other chicks, you should get a second poult to raise with this one. Turkeys are like chickens they are very social and thrive when they have others to be with.
