Anyone tried whitewashing their coops?

There is an article in the last Hobby Farms about white wash and that it provides some insulation because it's thick, seals out bugs, etc.. And it's cheap. Hobby farms quotes $.50 a gallon! It does need a binder in it to prevent the lime from rubbing off when touched, but they talked about plain old elmer's glue, which is really cheap right now with school supply sales.

I was supposed to have a week without the kids this week, but it isn't working out that way. I was ready to have a white washing party!

And does anyone have experience white washing aluminum siding! the outside of my large barn is aluminum siding. I'd love to get it painted and add a bit of "insulation" to it!

Thanks for sharing your expertise!

You will more likely than not be replacing the siding as the white wash will make it rust through in fairly short order. Get a good quality paint for metal, or the best option is leave it alone! Have fun.
