Whiz bang question

Will a 1/2 HP runing 1725 RP's be enough for a home made plucker?

Most of the motors used have either been 1hp or 3/4hp. Other folks using lower horsepower engines complain of the pluckers bogging down under load.

I was reading a blog post yesterday and the guy used a half horse and he said it worked great but it had troubles when he would put a 10 lb bird in.

for our plucker we used a 1/2 hp motor but we didn't do the barrel kind- we just did a small PVC/pulley ran one.

I put a half on mine....

replaced it with a 3/4 which works much better on the bigger ones
