Yesterday I had peace in my flock.
This morning I had peace in my flock.

I let the ducks out and there was peace for about an hour. And then a red haze settled over my drakes and my usually sweet Truffle has decided to try and murder his brother Bramble and hasn’t let up even into the night….

I have them separated for now, but I’m not looking forward to the next several weeks.

Anyone else’s drakes possessed by the seasonal demonic forces?

A bit too early here, thank goodness. Sheldon, my senior drake, gets completely insane in the spring. A couple of years ago, he broke his brother's wing and "romanced" Blair so hard she nearly lost an eye.

In the case of runner ducks, love really does hurt 😒 Best wishes with keeping the peace.

Mr. pickles will be 2 this spring. His son, sweet pea will be 1 this spring. I had them separate all last summer, but so far this fall winter season they’re getting along. Thanks for reminding me to keep a lookout for sudden Drake insanity syndrome

My drake and thankfully I am down to only one, has not stopped mating all winter if he can get into water and most of his females chase him around like little hussies. (Quite embarrassing) ;)but no eggs since I believe end of October. I have taken the walk of shame 3x so far and bought chicken eggs. Haven't run into anyone I know though whew.

I do miss my drakes that have crossed the rainbow bridge but I bet they are still chasing and tussling even over yonder.

It happened today. Right before bed it started. Sweet pea chasing girls around. An hour after lockup I still heard bickering in the coop. An hour and a half after a lockup sound like fighting going on so I went out in the dark got a couple dog crates out and locked up the drakes. And now It’s finally quiet. I guess SDIS is a real thing now.

Old Ladies can get into some pretty good ones, When my old lady Muscovy are looking to kickbutt they walk around all puffed out like sumo wrestlers. Everyone heads for the hills.

The fighting here has slowed I think mainly because it is so cold they don't want to get up for long and get their legs cold.
