Many uses are claimed for poultry and birds , from treating respiratory illness to keeping slime out of water and killing disease in coops stronger than other cleaners yet safe when inactive around birds and humans. etc. shagbarkbantams.com wrote a lengthy article on it. Just curious if anyone here has tried it?

The active ingredient in Oxine is Chlorine Dioxide, which has very high effectiveness as a disinfectant against a broad range of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mold.
I have been studying a lot of Chlorine Dioxide disinfectants, and am impressed with their usefulness!
Whenever you are using any type of Chlorine Dioxide product, you have to keep in mind factors that need to be appropriately matched for the target purpose with reasonable correctness to be effective and safe, including those listed below. (Relevant instructions for each specific product should be found on its label.)
  • Concentration level in liquid solution, airborne liquid solution, or airborne gas
  • Contact time
  • Form of chlorine dioxide (ie. activated, buffered, stabilized, etc.)
  • Activation level (which decreases over time, especially when exposed to sunlight or heat)
  • Environmental conditions (air circulation, etc)
You can figure quantities of ingredients for making small batches of Oxine at

Oxine has been recently been placed on the EPA List N of more than 300 disinfectants that can be used against the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Regarding the articles written by Shagbark Bantams, I am not sure how accurate they are or not?? I may need to read more later.
