I think this can all be summed up best by what's happened to me over the last several months:

I had to rehome my chickens. But it was okay because although the chickens were gone, you all were not. It wasn't like the minute the pickup pulled out of the driveway all of my chicken (and non-chicken) friends went with them.

We have been gone as much as we'd been home the last few years, and the last few months we've literally been gone MORE than we've been home. For example, Ken became Grand Master of Wyoming in August. In September our travels started in earnest, and that month we were home a total of 4 days. Yeah, it's been like that. I don't mean to worry my friends when I have long absences from BYC - most of you knew what was going to happen long before it did - yet you still worry. But I don't. I know that as soon as I finally have a chance to get to my computer and sign in, you are here. Like ports in a stormy sea, you anchor me.

Contradictory to that is the way I worry when any of you simple drop off for a while. It's been that way since the first time I plopped my hiney in @Beekissed thread, The Front Porch Swing, and some of the folks who were there when it was active are still dear to my heart on other threads. And my dear Bee....if it wasn't for her I'd still be sticking chicks under heat lamps, fussing over them and crying because "They don't like me." She reduced my chicken raisin' stress level by at least 3/4!

I have friends on here that it seems have part of my life forever. I have friends on here that I haven't met yet..just haven't crossed paths but I know that new names and faces pop up daily and each of them is a potential new friend.

I could have done without some of the things we've shared - the death of Rachel (@donrae) was one, especially coming right on the heels of losing my sister Linda. But then I've become a "cybergramma" to @Cynthia12 new grandbaby. A couple of us sat up with her all night waiting for that little prince. Through the years we've prayed together, mourned together, worried together, and laughed until we were aching together.

The world is mine when I turn on my computer! I became a member because of my foray into raising chickens. I stay because of each of you, and the chickens have somehow become secondary. Thank you all for being here when I've needed you.

Aww..one of my best friends I've never met. That little prince is going in for his 4 month check up and shots. 4 months! Again, time is running faster than me! We are all trying to guess his weight. He was 9.2 when born. That boy is big..ggerr! He is wearing 6 months size and needing to move up to 9 months. I'm guessing he is close to 20 lbs, either way. Here are a couple of photos... My DH in the first with him. He scratched his little face.

His dad in the second with him.
