My rooster was missing when I got home from work today. My dog helped me track through the woods to a site about 150 yards away, where we found the carcass hidden at the base of a pine tree, with its head and neck missing, and its breast partially chewed
I am thinking fisher.
I have lately had a lot of fox (in fact I watched this same rooster fight off a fox last week, saving his girls) and dogs. The neighbor finally had to get rid of her dogs after they had killed too many of my chickens.
I don't know what else (besides Fisher and Coyote?) will cache their kill for later.
I am really broken-hearted over my poor Lasso boy. Worst is that I have kept the chickens in their runs since the fox have been around and can only think he must have gotten out this AM when I was cleaning the coop.
Any ideas?
