Who calls at bedtime?

I have a small flock of 8 week old chickens. Every night the same chicken calls the others back to the coop and leads the group up the ladder to bed, it is very vocal at this time of day. In general is it a male or female that is in charge of bedtime routine? It's the one chick we are still up in the air about sex on. Thanks!

I had a hen who did that. I think it just depends on the individual but I've never had a rooster.

Post a pic of suspect bird? Gender should be pretty apparent at 8 weeks for most breeds.
Usually a male will do that but not uncommon for female either, especially if there is no male present.

I'd say pullet....I think comb and wattles would be much redder at 8 weeks.
