Who do you guys reccomend for Ameraucana and Sebastapol Geese breeders

I appreciate the help thank you soo much everyone(Rusty Hills Farm, cottage rose(thanks for PMing and giving allot of info!), peachick, hcammack, and NYREDS )

I just hope no one gets into an argument....

I do aggree with Cottage Rose; just because its not a breeder with allot of sales doesnt mean they dont have very good stock...sometimes i believe it is better since they can concentrate more with their own small or medium stock to get better qualitites.....I do aggree with you guys Pips&peeps, barbara campell and other Ameraucana breeders have great stock that also came from other great stock like Holdrreads( i dont know anything about Holdrreads just that they are too pricey!)
but i think private breeders are better since they have better prices, and have great quality(sometimes better)...

Well I have been trying to do research myself, and have also heard of your reccomdendation..... I have been able to contact Barbara Campbell but unfortunently she is not selling anymore of her stock due to personal issues.(something about her back)

I am actually interested in Pips&peeps since she does have Barbara campbells stock and also due to how she has white, and buff Ameraucanas that i am interested along with wheatens, and blue wheatens...)
But lets see.....What do you guys reccomend me buying though? some fertile eggs(Ameraucanas and Sebastapols) or day chicks or goslings?
For chicks i have to buy allot and it comes out to be allot but i am thinking what if they dont hatch? i am also thinking that i want them to be marricks vaccinated and that can only be done by buying chicks not fertile eggs(since vaccinations cost allot to buy ourselves right?)

I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me please do continue. thanks!

If you have the room I would suggest buying 25 chicks and not doing eggs because from eggs u still pay allot of $ and many may not hatch with chicks you are garunteed a few chicks also with geese I have heard they are very difficult to hatch so maybe picking up a few goslings from someone in your area or even having them shipped to you would be better. Pick up is the best because you could also get less then 25 chicks and they would be safe is there is anyone in your area that would be best. I know I am lucky being right in the state that Peachick and Will Marrow are in I have some great birds available for pickup to me. I hope you have great success finding these beautiful birds and starting your flock of them.

I agree with Henry...buy lives vs. hatching eggs.
People try to scrimp, then they end up buying hatching eggs because they think its so much cheaper.
Then 21 days later... boo-hoo when their hatching eggs don't hatch or you only get a few and then you have to start all over again at square one again.
Just isn't worth the time and hassle, not to mention disappointment. Thats not to say you won't have a successful hatch BUT why not go for the sure thing?

Plus beware of online auctions...theres a ton of yahoo's out there selling hatching eggs and you never know what you're getting unless its somebody here that everybody knows and trusts.

Also you DO NOT want chicks vaccinated for Mereks unless your current flock is vaccinated for it as well
because the vaccinated birds are carriers that can pass Mereks on to non-vaccinated birds.

Save up your money.
Buy day olds, started youngsters or breeding stock
from reputable breeders. If you can find hatching eggs locally that wouild be better since you can by-pass the shipping issues.

)
either from Peachick that has great breeding lines from Pip&peeps, or from Jean(Pips&peeps) since she did get hers from barbara Campell....Its actually kind of the same thing to say, but i guess i am looking at how i want different varities, i want whites, buffs, Wheatens, And blue wheatens, so i guess Jean is the way to go......Is there anyone else you guys would suggest or reccomend?

Also on the Marricks vacc, i did vaccinate my other chicks from Ideal Hatchery just to be on the safe side that they wouldnt get anything, but soo far thank to God everythings been going great! so should i vaccinate my other incoming chicks as well?

CottageRose i was actually looking at the Marans from Bev Davis, and her Wheatens look beautiful! What have you heard about them(their behaviors, and laying...are they good?)
How are your chicks doing from Bev? Is that the only Marans breeder you bought Marans from?

Thanks guys, and Almost forgot to say........................................................ ...................................................................HAPPY NEW YEARS TO EVERY BYC MEMBER!!!

Bev is known to be one of the top Marans breeder.
yes her birds are suppose to be very good.
These are my first Marans and they are all from Bev.
Wade Jean is suppose to be a good source for very dark eggs but I heard type not as good as Bevs.

Just keep in mind on getting all those different colored Ameraucanas, if you plan to breed them you will need 3 separate breeding pens and shelters.
Something to consider...with wheatens they can be paired up with blue wheatens and blacks and blues can be bred together. Plus you will get splashes when breed blue x blue and blue wheaten x blue wheaten.

I have some VERY BLUE Ameraucana eggs from Melissa at pasofinofarm under a broody.
I don't know if they will hatch.

If they don't hatch, I will buy a bator and order more eggs from her. Houston isn't that far from Phoenix and the pics of her birds are EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

AND she is speedy. She gets the paypal confirmation and goes to work. I highly recommend her for Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs.

I would love to find someone who sells eggs that blue that has BLUE ameraucanas...I'd put them in a bator too.

Eventually, after all of the variety that I've been raising, I simply want a couple of varieties of leghorns and then BLUE laying Ameraucanas.

Its very difficult to find blue Amer. that lay real blue eggs because almost all blues and blacks carry brown egg layer breeds behind them and tend to lay pale green eggs.
Even the bluest Amer. eggs are pale powder blue or a pale turquoise blue.

I just have to put in my 2cents. All of you who are looking for poultry this Spring need to decide your priorities. Do you want pets, or show/breeding stock? Will you be happy with healthy, productive and well adjusted animals or are you intent on a show win? Do you want to perpetuate a declining breed? If you never intend on showing, buy a healthy animal and
don't pay for "show quality". What pleases you? I have 2 breeds of chickens and one of geese and one of duck. I look for health and intelligence, and don't give a rat's ass if the animal is a beauty without stamina or brains! My favorite goose is never going to win a thing but my adoration. But, she has bred a beauty, and kept the flock together.
My favorite chicken is so canny she has outrun a coyote and out smarted every hawk! Isn't that important in perpetuating a breed?
