Who Do You Hire To Build a Run?

Quote:
I don't have a husband or a brother. I'm disabled, so I can't do it myself, I wish I could! I've tried doing business with the neighbors and they proved to be totally unreliable and half-assed so that is not an option. I'm sick of waiting around for a friend to get around to helping me. People I know tend to think if they're "helping someone out", they can take their time getting around to it. I'm not looking to wheel and deal, I'm not looking for a bargain or a favor. I simply want to hire and professional and get the job DONE and the sooner the better.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not looking for an alternative, I'm looking for a Professional. I'm just not sure what kind of professional would build a chicken run? Would it be a Carpenter, or as someone said a Fence Builder, etc? I just want to know what trade category I should be looking up.

I'd try a landscaping company then. They have all the basic equipment and will still be more economical than a licensed builder. They also tend to work in crews and will be in and out quickly.

A fencing company would do it. Landscapers possibly. Just make sure that whoever does it makes sure there are no lines to hit when digging. Our first house we had to get a contractor because of gas and water lines which required permits. Our current home we didn't because there are no lines out where we built.

You could always show up at the local Karaoke house and wave some cash in the air!

Wait, don't do that! Them's sum craazy folks!

shed builders and fencers seem to be the go to guys around here, or like someone else said a good teenaged country boy with some know how will do it right for you. good luck.

Post to craigs in the Farm section and see what you can find. Post the size run you'd like and how much you'd be willing to pay. Do some research of runs and have some idea of the design you'd like. Maybe have some pictures. If your a woman ask for some chicken women to come to your rescue. Yeah I know you are, I just put that there for your sisters who might need a hand.

Hope to see some pics of your new run

Post an ad on your local craigslist. Put it in the farm and garden section. Say something like this:

WANTED: Someone To Build Chicken Run

I need someone to build a run for my chickens. The run will be 10x20' and 4' high (put your dimensions in there). Submit a bid and provide references PLEASE!

If I was closer I'd gather some friends and come build it for ya

Yeah, right! Funny, when some on this thread mentioned neighbors helping, I laughed, but I certainly wasn't going to re-post that saga here! Let's just suffice to say my neighbors are not an option.

As far as Craig's List goes, I did think of that, but I'm a woman living alone in the woods, and any weirdo could answer my ad. I think I'd rather call a place that I know is a legitimate company or carpenter, etc., with an actual business listing. You just never know who you'll find on CL.

I'm trying to look up carpenters, builders, & fence companies now. We'll see what happens.

Thank you by the way, for the kind offers of building it if you all were closer to me. Very nice.

This is a picture of my run. I built it in panels using metal connectors sold at Home Depot. Sometimes lumber companies will precut your 2x4's for you. If you have a cordless drill you can use these metal connectors to hold everything together. If you'd like better pictures I will post them.
Can simply make your "squares or rectangle" and tack on you poultry wire and then screw all your squares together. Make a drawing of what it is you'd like and the person at the lumber company can help you.

You can do this. I know it.

Wishing you the best '
