Who else has buttonquail???

well, I was going for colorful and small- I have a small house and space is at a premium. I was only planning to keep one couple in a 20 gallon short aquarium and maybe a colony of 4 in a custom cage. Now I can't make up my mind to get rid of any of them. As for the aquarium- I like birds better than fish, but don't need to cuddle and hold them- just like to watch and listen to them root around in their environment. I have chickens and dogs to hold and cuddle. LOL.
i see, you can only keep 1 male and 1 female in a pen and 20 gallons will not be enough space, the smallest i would go would be a XL hamster cage or a 50 gal aquarium.

I try to listen to good advise, so I got a 12x48 inch aquarium to keep my quail in. Also the custom cage will be 18x36. I think I can keep two or three in each of these. Next thing is sexing them. I think I have a majority of males- hopefully I can find the right number of females. There are three I particularly love- I hope they are not all male, I would hate to make a decision between them.

Great! sometimes males can be kept together. in pairs or maybe trios? just not any more than one female with one male. also most buttonquail are male.

I've never kept it have planned to keep quils but how much do they ruoghly cost in the UK region and how many eggs yearly on average will they lay and do they have to clock there eggs or can u hatch them in a normal incubator
I really do not know how much they cost in the UK, but I think you could find out pretty easily. they can be hatched in a normal incubator, they lay 150-200 eggs per year.

And is did I pick it up right ur only duppsupp to keep 1 female to 1 male???¿¿¿
that depends on the breed of quail. it sounds like you would want coturnix.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coturnix_coturnix

oldhen, Coturnix eggs are about twice the size of button quail eggs.
