who else has eggs cooking???

I lock my eggs down tomorrow :woot

I'm going to candle one more time tonight when I turn and then tomorrow I'll give 'em one more turn, jack up the humidity and leave them alone until the 13th! This is the worst part for me, since there's no more work for me to do, the rest is all up to those little peepers!!!

I am locking down mine after first pip. I dry hatch.. my eggs are small. and due the 16th, bantams can be early though. I will not rush things

We hatched our first 3 chocolate orpington bantams today!! They are healthy and chocolate! From Greenfire Farms original stock. We have 3 more CO's set to hatch in 4 days.

This was our first attempt, and we used the Little Giant still air. The chicks are 1 hour old in this pic. Also in the incubator are two Ameracana eggs.

See the little chocolate beaks!!

Yippee!!

congratulations on the new babies.

I did some of my Pekin duck eggs under one of my Buff Orpingers with good results. I just get worried about the Buff not getting off the eggs enough to take care of her self. I will put a pan of food and water right in front of her sometimes and stand there till she finishes. The Ducks take a little longer to hatch and she looks like she looses so much weight but puts it back on after.

Just locked down my first clutch of eggs yesterday but I'm worried that their air sacs are too small.

I worried all that same stuff along the way. I even let the temp slip up to 104 a couple times with no ill effect, (but only for a short time). I hoped I didn't cook them, but they were candling well as they progressed. The babies are all healthy and bouncy, peeping away now!! We have them a soft cloth in the bator now. And, I didn't even do a lock down, just tended them daily as usual up until hatch.

I think we sometimes worry unnecessarily.

I founf if I use a spray paint can with the very center cut out to where the egg can rest on the ridge inside and use a really bright LED flashlight through the center hole I can see through some of the darker ones if I turn the lights out in the room. I am assuming by darker you mean the color of the egg. If not then smell the egg really close if the dark is inside as the egg is pourous and you may smell it if it is rotten. You really don't want a rotten one to bust and contaminate the others. Good luck.
