who else has eggs cooking???

Today is day 7 for my eggs - the Tolbunt Polish are really easy to candle because of their white shells. All 6 were spot on for day 7 development - saw them all moving around. So exciting! The Isbar is much harder given the green shell. I can see some faint vein outlines and the shadow outline of the chick, but no definition. I didn't see movement today, but I don't think I am too worried about that - it's so hard to see anything in that green shell!

YEAH! Looks like we are right on track!
Tolbunts are beautiful! I just hatched 5 White Crested Blacks. Setting 18 marans and 6 more Polish tonight.

I have wanted a Tolbunt frizzle hen since I decided to keep chickens. I've got plenty of friends with chickens who are anxiously awaiting the hatch & are willing to barter/buy any I don't want. I might even do DNA testing to make sure I get at least 1 hen. Hoping for some frizzles!

Next hatch will be some Orpingtons and some marans - I have a Meyers' hatchery BC Marans who gives me pretty dark eggs, but I would love at least 1 more hen with some really good quality dark egg genes.

I really need a bigger coop & more land!

Today is day 21. Already have 6 babies pips and zipps everywhere in there. This wait is killing me. I know I have a few more days. Wow time is going slow.

400

I have a dozen egg in one of those plastic 48 egg incubator on day 23, so far 3 have hatched and one is pipping. First time using this incubator for hatching to full term, I usually start them in the incubator and then just before hatching I put them under a broody hen. So I never seen the following; first chick hatched and is fine, second chick after hatching looked sticky, dawn is not fluffy tried to clean it with a warm wet towel. Third chick hatched last night, when i cheked on them, this one was stuck to the plastic grid where the eggs are resting. This chick has the dawn stuck to the body and is very tired, I soacked the chick with wam water to be able to detache it from the plastic tray/grid and now it is better in a brooder. Lookes like the last two had some sticky fluid that caused their dawn to stick. This is a picture of one of them.

Today was lockdown!! Took eggs out of the turner at noon!
Started with 37 in my HovaBator 1588, threw out four obvious duds, and hoping most of the others are good to go! We'll see--this is my first hatch!!

We will almost be hatch buddies!!

Yay! This is my first time using an incubator and everything is right on track I think... I candled today and every egg shows veins but no movement... I'm super excited though!! I hope I hatch my Easter egger!! I have my barnyard mix in there and I'm excited to see the combinations!
