who else has eggs cooking???

I just kind of threw it together! A light bulb, styrofoam cooler, some hardware cloth, thermometer , heat sinks, and some water trays with sponges! Once I perfect my bator I'll post a how to thread!

I'm so scared I'll royally mess some chicks up.. I had great results with my ancient LG..this year I replaced it with a new LG, and added a 2nd as a hatcher.. I think I need to add silica beads or something to my incu bc even doing dry incubation, my areas RH has just seriously got me messed up this year..but I will be staking the threads for your DIY. .lol

My turkey eggs hatched last weekend. Some did not make it but that is fine with me.
After they hatched, I placed them under a Brodie hen and now she is taking care of them.

I can't wait to have broody hens again..2 of the Silkies I rehomed in the midst of the dog pack ordeal were the type of broodies that you had to force off the nest to potty and eat and they would raise a litter of kittens or puppies if offered.
that's awesome that you had a good hatch though :) I never count on 100% of course, but I am always happy with any that are alive and healthy. .

Baby #2 has FINALLY got to leave the hatcher..unfortunately for her (for now, #1 is a boy, and #2 a girl)but it was a move to my bra..she was not getting her feet under her and would fall over and not be able to right herself..she reminded me of something topheavy. .but she was not resting in the hatcher and was using all her energy to stay upright..I tucked her in my bra, and was feeding her vitamin enriched scrambled eggs from my finger and Sav a chick and ACV in water off a qtip..she would stick her tongue out and drink, before I'd even get it to her beak. Like she was ravenous...BUT there was a dime sized amount of yolk left in her egg, but her navel was fine when she hatched.
Anyways, she ate and then got a good long nap in and I figured I'd try her in the brooder with her hatch mate and some Silkies babies that are 9 days and 5 days old. She went straight under the heating pad hen and rested..I peeked in about 15 mins later and she was out eating. .she's still a little unsteady, but the bedding I'm thinking is making it easier to balance..and she's gaining strength so I think she's going to be just fine, it may take a couple days of extra TLC but she's headed in the right direction. .so everyone, meet my babies
