Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

I'm jealous of all of you with your broody hens. None of mine were broody this year. My one girl, Phoenix, wanted to be broody... but she was afraid of the long-term commitment. She stopped laying, would sit for three days or so... then... oh, nevermind.
Rinse, repeat.
She finally started laying eggs again this week. I'm glad that the "broody phase" is over.
How did the chick integration go, wishiwasjane?

Which one? The egg train or the monthly swap? The egg train is getting off to a rocky start, but at least with that one you know what you're getting. There will be another monthly swap starting October 1st if you want to go that route, so keep an eye out for it!

Did your lone guinea hatch yet?

I put the chicks under the two broody silkies last night. I was a tad worried because one kept pecking the head of the male maran. We decided it was bacause he kept popping it out and she was trying to make him stay hidden.

I went out with a feeling of trepidition this morning but all seems well with them. They have all the chicks tucked under them and no one is dead. They have even began the mama clucking. I will put some food/water in the cage in just a little bit.

My next worry is that the chicks had a full day to explore on their own - will they be content to stay under moms until they feel it is time to take them out of the nest?

I've put even week old and ten day old brooder chicks with a momma - not a problem.

The serama eggs are still going well...

Everything else is test or mutt or experimental and pretty low pressure...

LOL My vet and pyr rescue have decided we needed to foster a third Pyr... OMG. Oh well, now I need another name. So far Gnocchi and Penne, maybe the next one is Alfred(a) lol it's a she, Asiago, Parmesan? Romano? Maybe she's just Potato, or Parkerhouse, or Orechete? Just plain ol' NOODLE or Macaroni?

We like food, and food names are easy to remember.

I like Macaroni and then you could just call him/her Mac

Today I wrote a menards list for the materials I would need to build a jump bar for The White Ninja.

The chicks are doing good with the two moms. They are both in a cage together since they were sharing a nest - seems to be working well. The chicks were out getting a drink and the moms were not pecking them. This is their first time actually making it to the chick stage - so I am keeping a close eye on them.

Go broodies go. I have had great co-broody pairs. I think the chicks are happier that way. If one mom is cranky or busy the other usually isn't.

Fudge I can't do Macaroni- I have McCarran already and we call her Mac, gonna have to be Noodle or something else.
