Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

Last chick hatched. I think that's it for the chicken chicks.
8 chicks.
From the damaged-in-transit ebay set:
2 salmon faverolles - one with 8 toes, one with 9
2 polish - one silver penciled & one white crested blue
1 mille fleur d'uccle
1 "araucana" - hatched from a pink egg, appears muffed, though, and possibly blue in color
From shelley:
2 huge RIR chicks
(9 button quail)
(15 cortunix quail)
(guinea egg - in progress)

Pagan, those have got to be the prettiest ducks I've ever seen

Sorry for the mix-up, I was sure they were ducks!!

Araucanas are supposed to be tufted, not muffed. So the seller was probably someone that believed the hatchery when they said the chicks were 'aricana'. Cute babies though!

Yeah, and they're not supposed to come from pink eggs, either! It sure does have a puffy little face. I'm just glad it's not an ugly mutt. I like muffed birds. I can only hope that it has some green-egg-genes in there somewhere & lays me a green egg.
With my luck, it'll be a rooster. LOL!

Oh I just love all the extra face feather chickens!! Muff, beard, tufts!! The pea comb is closely related to the blue egg gene so if you see the 'pea' you'll 95% get the blue!!

I got all smooth faced and one double tufted Araucana so far. I've got a zillion babies with little beards

pics to follow!

Most likely, since it didn't hatch from a green or blue egg, it doesn't have the blue-egg gene. You could possibly cross it (if it's a pullet) to a blue-egg-hatched rooster, and the offspring could lay blue eggs, but that one probably will not.

Great pic!!!

(thinking of the thread with all the talk about colors, with varying opinions) Amber???
We now have 6 little fluffballs with the 2 broodies, the banty Cochin is a day behind, now at 23 days, and has hatched 2 of 6. I picked her up today and found 2 eggs and a chick glued to her belly *gasp*.
One egg fell off and broke... was smelly liquid inside, one I pulled off, it was hollow with a 'pip' (ghost chick got out thru that & left?), fortunately the chick came off easily and is fine.
I want to bathe her but am waiting til the other 2 eggs declare themselves. Time to candle again, I only did a few at 8 & 15ish days, to keep annoyance to a minimum. Update: others were clear, so final count is 6/15.
Is 6 chicks from 15 shipped eggs, under broodies, a good hatch rate? ? ? ______________

I'm happy with 6, especially if it's 1 roo to 5 hens.

Thanks for sharing this hatch! Much better than going it alone!

We just checked on a ''seems like it pipped forever-ago" egg and the chick was shrink wrapped. Do you just leave it or help release the 'shrink' with moisture or peel it and leave it or what? Pagan? Anyone?
