Who else is waiting for that first egg?

Its starting to feel like "if I can just get 1 chicken to lay 1 egg, it will validate all the time and money put into building a coop and run and raising these chickens." Its like planting tomato plants and not getting a tomato.

So our australorps are still not laying!!!

they are 20 weeks and I am anxiously waiting for their "rent". Any one have some lay this late? I am blaming it on the heat wave

20 weeks is not 'late' at all. One of mine started at 21 weeks. I'm still waiting on 2 others. If they are hatchery sourced, they should start laying within the next couple weeks.

I feel the same way! Just want 1! I have that is taunting me bad. She was strutting around this morning singing the egg song and acting really wierd so I got all excited. I think I checked the coop atleast 8 times today and the run and NOTHING! I'm pretty sure her and the 11 others are out there laughing at me.....

21-22 weeks old. I suspect my little Blue Andalusian will be first, her comb and wattles are bright bright red and she's starting to squat. I'm most excited for my EE to lay, I hope for blue-green eggs! My Dorking is a slow grower and I've read that SLW take their sweet time.

Luckily I have my three girls from last summer giving me 2-3 eggs each day.

Yes, yes all of you say you just want one. But know that is the gateway egg. Next is 2 then 3, 4 or 5. Soon we expect them all to lay all the time!!!
