Who else is waiting for that first egg?

Man my girls are holding out. We have 4 different kinds that are all about 19-20 weeks and nothing. I put an Easter egg in one of the nesting boxes and they have moved it but none of them have shown much interest in it. Well except staring at it and shreeking. Especially the leghorn. I think she's bipolar. Lol

Mine are pretty close in age to yours. A few are younger. Mine are pretty unimpressed with the nesting boxes too.

A few more of my girls that are getting ready to start laying (with the exception of the girl in the middle).

I cracked open the egg from Victoria tonight without thinking. I was fixing fried chicken and needed the egg wash so crack and plop into the bowl it went. Just grabbing them out of the carton not paying attention.
It was a double yolker. A pullet laying doubles had me like WOW. I asked DH if he knew where her other egg was and he said he had it for breakfast and it was a double as well.

I hope she straightens that out BEFORE they get to be full sized yolks.
Her egg as a reminder of size.
Hers is on the left and my BA that lays jumbo's is on the right. I thought the pullet egg seemed overly large. POOR GIRL!

A ISA is just another hatchery name for a red sex link. I am a newbie too. But I am going to wait till most are laying before putting them on a layer feed. I am going to pick up some oyster shell for extra calcium just in case. You will see so many mixed reviews of putting them on Layer early or waiting but my personal opinion for my girls is to wait. I am so excited about finding my first egg, if they will just lay me one. Haha

Thanks Diana. I think I'll hold off on the layer feed as well. Also, now I know I have three ISAs. Mine were called golden comets, but I think they are the same. I know they are sex links at least. I am sure these chickens will lay eggs someday soon, but the suspense is killing me!

Still (not so patiently) waiting for one of our gals to lay! They are 19-22 weeks. Anyone else waiting for their sex links to lay?
I am impatiently waiting for my red sex links to lay. They will be 18 weeks on friday. Some of them are squatting all the time and actively checking out the nesting boxes. Their combs and wattles are bright red and swollen. One was going nest box to nest box sitting on the golf balls for a minute then switching boxes. Hoping for any day now!

I am so glad I am not the only one obsessed (or possessed) with waiting for that first egg. I swear if someone doesn't lay one soon I am going to go crazy I am now imagining my reaction when I find the first one. Love my chickens.
