Who else is waiting for that first egg?

Only one of my chickens has an egg song that I've heard. I've been out there when three of them are in the middle of laying an egg, and didn't notice any unusually loud noises.

That said, my Easter Egger Sophie IS very loud when she lays an egg. I can hear her buh-GAWWWWWWWWWWWWKing all the way from the driveway.

As long as the shell is normal and intact, you can eat it. No need to refrigerate or wash. You can keep them out on the counter for over 2 weeks. Fresh eggs usually don't stick around that long though, they're just too yummy.

It's a beautiful little thing. The photo doesn't really show how small it is because I have the hands of a child. Shell seems fine, I gave it a bit of a squeeze to see if it was soft and it didn't give! I got so excited I ran out screaming it's an egg! I forgot to check the other boxes. Only the one egg today! One of Mt easter eggers has been squatting for about the same amount of time so maybe more tomorrow!

Waiting..... Have two 21 week old Ameraucanas who should lay any minute! Also 4 Barred Rocks but they're only 14 weeks so may be awhile.

I thought about doing that. I know I'll smash it... but I think I've seen my dad do that at easter so maybe be can!

We're waiting too, but it's still early for us. It's are only 8 weeks. We've got 5 leghorns, 6 barred Rock, 4 Easter egg, 3 welsummer and 3 Turken.
