Who ever said keeping chickens was FUN?!

I am tickled pink to hear things are going so much better! I know how you feel. Sometimes you just feel like everyone makes it seem so easy. What the heck is wrong with me and my chickens! I was that way when mine wouldnt roost. I had to embarrass
myself and make a post. I am so gratefull to all the wonderful, kind and smart people here at BYC! I ended up having to place mine on the roost 3 nights in a row, then they got it! Have fun, enjoy them and hang in there!! We're here for ya!

Glad things are going better. Handling the Columbian is good. Pet her and tell her how pretty she is. She may fuss a little bit. Just hold her til she settles down. Don't worry that she wont take a treat from your hand. That will come with time. One thing that works for me is to set them on a table/counter or something and put the treat there and they will associate getting treats with being held. A spoonful of yogurt mixed with food (a little bit) makes a wonderful treat and helps feathers grow back in. My younger set 6-8 weeks I think get carried from their daytime pen to where they sleep safely at night and they have learned that whoever gets carried over first gets to eat the yogurt mix first.
