Is it only the rooster that gives the warning calls if danger is near - hawks, etc...??

Or, is it the first one that sees it that gives the call?

I have (what I think is a pullet) that saw the hawk fly over this morning. She first stood up real tall, stretched out her neck, and gave some kind of call. Then she ran and all the other birds followed her.

Is this typical of a pullet?

Ya its nothing to worry about it's normally the rooster that does it because he's on the lookout. But the first to see danger gives the call.

I have 12 chickens and they are all 3 months and younger. Nobody really sticks out as a roo yet, but I don't know anything yet for sure. This little gal was the smallest of the bunch - still is. She's as small as my 7 wk old BRs when all her other 5 EE siblings are as large as my 3mo. Polish ones.

She's always been the most mellow, passive chick! She took me off guard.
