We lock our chickens in for the night usually a little after dark. Last night when we went outside, we were missing our Phoebe. There was a pile of feathers just oustside the coop, a couple other spots close by with a lot of feathers, then a trail leading across the yard, on the chainlink fence, and into the brush at the edge of the pond that backs up to our yard. Any ideas what may have gotten her? There was no blood, but some clumps of feathers did have skin stuck to them still.
We have several feral cats in the neighborhood, but none that seem big enough to carry off a year old barred rock, and they usually stay away out of the creek. A neighbors young goat was killed by a coyote recently, but our property is fenced on all sides by 8 ft privacy fences except the back side that has the chain link fence and a pond. Nothing has gotten past the pond until now.
