So I have butchered chickens before. I had a couple mean roosters years back. This is our first time raising chicks that are meant for the table. We have 3 CX that will be 8 weeks on the 28th. Its been fun raising them. They are interesting little guys, entertaining to watch and interact with. Made sure my kids know that they are meat chickens and they are known as 1,2 and 3 or chicken dinner. Well one little roster is such a cutie its hard not to fall in love with him.
He follows me everywhere and likes to sit on my feet. While the others are off pecking in the leaf litter he is right by my side. Has even hoped in my lap a couple of times(of course I have to be sitting on the ground) none of my other chickens do that. I know that he is meant for food so I am just going to give him love and attention all the way up to the big day. I think my hubby will be processing this bird,, not sure I have the heart.
So has anyone else here ever fallen in love with a meaty?

Now that he is over 5 lbs he doesn't climb in my lap anymore but he will lay beside me
or happily sit in my lap if I scoop him up.
