Who has laid???

Is there something I could do to know if a chicken has laid an egg yet? I'm averaging 3 eggs a day. I have 4 red links and 4 black ones. I was sure the red ones were laying until I found one of the black ones in the nest and laid an egg. Is there a way to check the vent or anything? Just curious.

You can check the vent to see who has a tiny one and whose is bigger. Another way is to check between the pelvic bones????? Not sure on that one. Hopefully someone else will know.

I was able to tell a nonlayer quite easily by looking at the differences in vents recently.
