Who has or will be raising the price of their eggs this year?

With the way feed prices have gone up these last six months the wife and I started talking about raising our egg prices. I always drag my feet over this because I hate to risk losing established customers but we're not going to be able to put it off much longer.

Who here has raised their price this year or plans to?

we had to raise our price. with the price of feed, you really don't have much of a choice, do ya? I price my eggs according to the cost and how much I get a week. I am really not out to make a lot of money on them, breaking even with feed, bedding and other supplies(or new chicks!) is fine with me. I just love my girls so much. whatever money is leftover stays in the "chicken money" envelope for any unexpected expenses, or goes towards the power bill. we went up .50 per dozen this year compared to last year. luckily we haven't really lost the people that buy them the most. they love fresh eggs, and it is still cheaper than cage free eggs in the store! and mine are super fresh!!

What are most of you charging for a dozen of eggs? This is my first time selling them they are charging $1.64 for lg. eggs at wal-mart so I thought I would charge $2.00 or is that to cheap?

I sell my eggs for 1.50 a dz. Only have a few church members so far. Seems like alot of folks are starting to raise chickens too. One of our church members that was good for 2-3 doz. a week informed us her neighbor just started, and she feels obligated to get em from her.

I was doing $2 a doz. or $3 for $18, I went up to $3 for a doz and $4 for 18, put an add on Craigslist and sold out in an hour!

We charge $2.00 per dozen and just can't get any more than that. But if you live in an area where there aren't that many backyard flocks, you can probably charge more. we live in a farming town..but not many ppl in the area have chickens..strange...

I have had several ppl say they'd buy my eggs...but I plan on getting about 9 dozen a wk..I figure thats pretty easy w/30-33 hens...
right??

what do you think I'd get with 30 hens? egg wise? most are avg to above avg production, large eggs...

and I WILL have them in a 10x25 run..so I cant say cage free right...cause they are...but I can say

I got ahead of the feed prices by raising our prices at the beginning of the year. Had to. We cannot raise them again this soon. We're at a glass ceiling at $2.00 for regular, $2.50 for jumbo. The economy is bad and people around here are not wealthy, by any means. Competition is everywhere.

I have no idea how Sav-A-Lot sells eggs for $.79 a dozen, consistently and WalMart at $.99

Those producers have lower feed costs, but still? No idea how they can do it profitably.
