I am interested in hatching some and want to get ones with great egg color. I know there are some people on here that have them, and I would love to see egg pictures so I can decide who I want to order from. I have already decided on one person, but want to know who else is out there. Thanks!!
I am not wanting to buy them today, but want to get a list going so I can get the best ones when it warms up.
I don't have any pics, but I did hatch out some last winter. I won them on eggbid from Sheryll in Olney, IL. Half hatched - it was my first hatch too and I was having issues w/ humidity. They are about a 4 on the marans color chart.
Quote:Wonderful guy to deal with and I had a pretty good hatch on his Penes. And they are pretty dark, darker than the Marans.
I am adding this breed to my list. I might just want them over Marans actually. Did I say that out loud?
I'm looking to get some in the spring too. I found a breeder-- Patrick Geragh. Has anyone dealt with him?
I got mine from Jerry too. Partridge ones. Out of 12, 2 hatched. They are really hard to hatch! There is a member on here that has them. I honestly forget his user name. His real name is Patrick. He said they are SO hard to get them to hatch. And that I was lucky that I had 2 hatch. BTW it is a pair! They came from nice dark eggs. I hatched them in August so I am hoping come the first of spring I will have some eggs to put in the bators! I have heard that they are really flighty. Not sure if this is true, mine are not at all! In fact my are annoyingly nice. I have almost stepped on them countless times. When I go out to them they will run straight to me, I squat down and the roo will jump up on my leg! The hen lets me pet her but not hold her. And they are so pretty. I sure do love mine and their carnation comb! I will try to get pics sometime. It is hard to get them to stand still for longer than 2 seconds!
Quote:That's him!!! He is the one I was talking about in my previous post! He got back to me right away!
I wonder if it's the same Patrick? If it is, I hope he's reading this, because now I know I'll be ordering two dozen.
