I have a single Buff Polish hen 11 weeks old who is living alone because other chicks pecked her. She is living in the house right now, but really should be outside enjoying life! I would love to find her a really great loving pet only home with other Polish hens. Problem is I don't want her to get pecked again as she has finally grown back all her feathers, but is still nervous because of the experience.

If I can't find her a home, of course I will keep her as giving her up is going to be very difficult for me, but what I think is best for her. If I can't find her a good home, those with Polish experience, would I be able to put Polish chicks (babies) in with her and have her accept them? Do you think she would act like a 'mom' to them?

I live MA and have a male White-Crested Black Polish.
He was a rare and exotic free-be from McMurray...
However, he is suffering the same fate.. What started off as an attack thru a fence by a bigger roo, has continued with his mixed flock.. Everytime the feathers start to come back, the girls (all the same age, just different breeds!) peck them all out!!
Would you be willing to give him a home with your lonely gal? We have no girls of his breed and no intention of delving into the Polish breed.

In my heart I would LOVE to have a rooster because I think they are great, but my hubby said NO rooster when I was going to get chickens. Plus I don't think our neighbors would appreciate it even though we are in the country.
