Evening y'all. So as the title states who has that significant other who's always saying no to more chickens/critters. What do y'all do to get your way lol Last spring my sweet husband said I could get 15 chickens. I eventually got that number up to 30. So logically I now have 57 chickens. If he ever asks we have 30 chicken šŸ˜‚ lord help me if that man ever decides he want to count chickens.

I WISH my DH would say no to me! My hen house holds about 24. I have 20 adults including a rooster. I ordered 15 chicks in July because heaven help me, that was the minimum order. But instead of 15 the hatchery very generously gave me 21!!! What am I going to do with 41 chickens??? :barnie:he
Guess I need to sell a bunch of my year-old layers!

I always stop hatching and keeping chicks July 1 as these silkies need to be four/five months old to be able to leave the growout pens and be integrated into the main coop before winter hits.

I had requests for older chicks last spring, for 4H and other reasons. Thus, I announced, I'd like to set about two dozen eggs and grow them out over the winter. Hubby said, "I thought you wanted the break for a while, no stress, etc.?" I said I'm stressed drooling over three empty incubators, and will unstress when I see eggs in them. He said, "It's your hobby, do what you want to do." :celebrate
