I have 8 guinea hens and one guinea cock on less than an acre. I live in a residential neighborhood. I share a backyard with two other neighbors, so together, the guineas have free run of 3/10ths of an acre. Some things I have done to keep them contained is to clip wings from the time they started to be able to fly even a little bit. This keeps them from even realizing they can fly, so they mostly stay in the yard. I have to go get one or two from the immediately surrounding yards at least three times a week, but they go no further. They jump the four foot fence, and then can't figure out how to jump it back into the yard. Yes, I have had some losses to stray dogs when they jump the fence, but my own flock guard dog does a pretty good job making sure no dogs get in the fenced in yard. Yes, they can be extremely loud. I know all my neighbors extremely well, and they tell me if the guineas are making too much noise at night, or early in the morning, which isn't very often. If the guineas are consistently being noisy too early or at night, I put them in a special enclosed "box" I have in the hen house each evening so that I can control when they are out and about. My guineas were all raised with my chickens by a broody chicken, so they think they are chickens and roost in the hen house at night. I usually only have to close them up in the "too noisy box" for a few days and then they calm down again and can be let out for nighttime to roost again.
During the day, the guineas are very loud sometimes, so unless you already know your neighbors very well, they could be an annoyance. All my closest neighbors don't mind the noise during the day, and always call me if a guinea is out so I can come get it.
