I LOVE photograpy eventhough I am NOWHERE near as good as I would like to be. After MONTHS of worrying myself silly over whick new digital camera to purchase, I took bought a Nikon D5000 with every accessory made for it. MsBear's photos she has posted on BYC are what finally convinced me to go with NIkon instead of Canon and I am SOOOOO glad I did. I love it!

I just got back from spending the weekend in New Orleans and enjoyed some St. Patty's Day festivities... here's a few shots

You really like your D5000? I have a D50, and I've been saving up for an upgrade. I just don't know which one to buy.

YEs I LOVE it. I had it narrowed down between the D90 and the D5000. The only difference is the D5000 has a tiltable, swivel LCD screen. It has come in handy more than once alreaady. I'm telling you I was torn about this decision more than I was naming my child LOL. Go with the Nikon D5000. I got the D5000 kit, an extra battery, 2 high speed cards, the extended warranty, etc and it cost me right around $2000, that's why I had such a hard time deciding what to buy. Just look at the pics MsBear has posted on the photography threads. That's what swayed me. I will also tell you something I learned while researching cameras, Canon is good, but nikon has metal body housings while Canon used plastic, so if you can afford the initial cost of a Nikon, go with it because it will be better in the long run.

cool!

how did u get it to focus on the rosemary.. was it like that when the pic was taken... or was it edited like that? ( extreme newbie here lol)

it's all in the lens. I use a 55-200 mm lens to get an effect like that. the length of the lens is measured by how far in the distance you can zoom. My other lens, 18-55 is for objects closer to me. It gives me a wider angle. But, if I use the 55-200 for something close up like that and zoom all the way out, while focussing on that close object, it will blur the backgroud.
