I cannot allow myself to have spring fever YET or I might loose my mind. Here in Michigan I am just thankful it is not as bad as last winter when had record breaking snow and at least we are not getting as much snow as Boston. Stay strong @Curlyginger !!

you pics of the landscape and your birds is so pretty. How do your birds handle the winter? We got an inch here a few weeks ago and my rooster freaked out.
the girls just got right in it, but he was terrified of the white stuff. He stayed in the pen that day and crowed at it. Makes me wonder how others handle the snow.

Ha, your poor rooster. My chickens fair pretty well with the snow and cold. It takes some getting used to at the beginning of the season, and they don't like the fluffy freshly fallen snow on their feet much. But they have a sheltered area under the coop and once I push some snow out of the way they venture out further on the packed down snow.

Mine girls have a covered a-frame run, so they have non-snowy outdoor space all the time. We (and by this, I mean my husband) have also shoveled some paths through the backyard for us and the dog, and we (hubbie and I) always open up the run door whenever we do our daily coop cleaning. One BO (the top gal) always comes out. Some times the barred rock and the BSL come out. Occasionally, the other BO comes out. My easter egger NEVER comes out, unless it is to fly over the snow and roost on top of our 4 ft fence. But the EE decided not to lay this winter either and generally seems to hate winter about as much as I do.

The weekend was so nice that all the chickens were out and about. But today, not so much. No one is out. I don't even want to go out.
