I have the opportunity to get some juvenile Mountain Quail from a local breeder and was wondering if it would be worth it or not. How difficult are they to raise? Anything specific I should know before attempting it myself? I've read they're the hardest to keep alive, but that's usually referring to newborn chicks and these will already be 6 or 7 months old. Any other info or experiences anyone would like to share on raising them would be great too

All I Can Tell You For Sure Is That They Are Very Very Fragile As Babies. Send A Pm To Spectrum Ranch (randy) As He Breeds And Raises Them Every Year. I'm Sure He Can Tell You All The Niuances' About Them.

Hi Mountin Quail questioner....I have raised, and have about 120 mountains this year a bumper crop and have lots of experience in raising them...once they are at this stage in the game they are not that hard to care for ...just keep things as sanitary as you can, and the main thing is never let them run out of food or water! they will start pecking on each other if they havent
enough .....there is a" blue spray" you can use on the quail if they do get wounded, its great stuff and sold by 'cuttlers game bird supply'....Give the birds alot of room and put some pine tree trimmings in the cages, so they will have places to hide-out if they want to get away ...the tought part of raising Mts is the hatching and brooding stages and its really not that bad if you just go by a few simple rules..it is a little tougher than gambels, valleys and blue scale [all of which I raise]

) WONDERFUL STUFF AND SHOULD BE AN ESSENTIAL IN ANY 1ST AID KIT OR MEDICINE BOX FOR BIRD BREEDERS/ KEEPERS
