Hi! I have six hens, all a little over a year old. Here's my mystery: based on their breeds, nobody should be laying white eggs and yet someone is! Here's what I've got:

1 Buff Orpington
1 Brahma
1 Delaware
1 Black Sex Link
2 Easter Eggers

I get brown eggs - some smaller, some large. I get my share of green eggs, which should be coming from the EEs. But I also get white eggs, which are actually just a hair pinkish when compared to store-bought white eggs. (They looks white when they're on their own, though.)

Could one of the EEs be laying the white ones?? Because the first four in the list are surely supposed to lay brown eggs...

Any thoughts would be of interest!

I have a chicken doing this too. It's one of my brown egg layers, but every so often, I get a tinted egg that looks white until I see it next to one of my Polish crested eggs. I don't know who is doing it, but I'm not too surprised... after all, every hen is an individual, and with hatchery stock, you never know what you're going to get.

Interesting. Since we're getting these whitish eggs regularly, as opposed to every once in a while, I'm leaning toward the EE theory. I'm going to count the eggs to see if that seems likely based on the percentages of hens we have! If we can account for only one green-egg layer, then then whites could be the other EE. If it is of any interest, only one of our two EEs has the big cheeky feathers, the other one looks more "normal" headed. :)

I would say it is one of your EE. I 6 EE hens, all with slate/green legs, puffy cheeks and beards. I get 1 green, 1 blue, 1 cream-pinkish,1 tan, 1 blue, and 1 white egg.

I'm also having a similar problem. I'm not sure which of my hens are laying which eggs. I'd like to know because I only want to hatch out certain ones.

I have:

1 Ameraucana/EE with the puffy cheeks (who doesn't lay blue or green eggs - don't know what she's laying)
1 Black Australorp
1 Brahma
1 Buff Orpington
1 Welsummer (the 3 darkest eggs in the pics are hers)
1 Silver Laced Wyandotte
1 Road Island Red

I only have eggs from 5 of the hens in the pictures, and they are grouped together according to similarity.

Welsummers:

I would especially like to know who lays the very light colored egg on the left:

Top 3 are Welsummers, and I don't know the rest.

Any ideas??
