Who is old enough to remember this song?????

Yep, my husband still sings it now and then. He's from Texas so I think it was required to learn it in school. My dad had fun songs like that and all the Roger Miller songs too (You can't rollerskate in a buffalo herd) those were the days.

I grew up listening to that song...and I played it for all my kids..

My mom used to play a cassette with a bunch of good road trip songs that included that one.

Other memorable ones were "I like Beer" by Tom T Hall, the "Dead skunk in the middle of the road" one (not sure if that's actually the tiltle or who sings it), "North to Alaska", "Convoy," "The Devil went down to Gorgia".

Hee hee, those songs are fun.

I love that song! I sing it while I do housework sometimes . . . I've never heard the real version before, though. It was just one of those songs my mother would sing to me as a bedtime song. Thanks for the link.

I believe I own your road trip cassette. I bought it for 'Convoy'.

I'm 39 and I have two Johnny Horton CD's. Good music doesn't grow old.

My kids and I laughed at the Legos video. Thanks for sharing that!

(Oldest has to go feed the chickens, asked if he could watch it again when he gets back.)

Love it! I knew every word! I'm only 31, but my mother taught me that one when I was a kid. I don't think I've ever heard it set to music, we just used to sing it (loudly).

I also love Amos Moses and The Streak - Mom used to have those on an old cassette.

Amos Moses

The Streak
- the original recording
- music video, more entertaining, but not the original
