Who laid the speckled egg?!

Hello! I have three little ladies - a red sex link, a black star, and a black australorp. They are all about 18-19 weeks. On Monday we found our first two eggs in the coop - both small and brown. One was clearly from the day before, and one was fresh. We had our suspicions about who laid it, but then on Tuesday we got another egg accompanied by our Black Star, Munch, making sure the whole neighborhood knew it was her.

So she has laid around 4pm for at least two days in a row, maybe three.

Today an egg showed up earlier! This one is speckled and super pretty. We heard an egg song but the girls went quiet when we showed up so we don’t know if it was Munch again or not! It was earlier, bigger, and differently colored. Do we have another layer? Should I be concerned about speckles? Do chickens lay eggs at around the same time of day each time? I’m so curious!!!

My guess is it's one of your sex links. It's normal for color to be inconsistent especially in New layers as they work the kinks out of the system. It take roughly 25-26 hours for a hen to produce a fully formed egg so if a hen is laying daily the eggs will come an hour or two later in the day until they are forced to hold them over night or drop them from the roosts before they can start laying in the morning. A hen that lays less frequently may lay at around the same time of day a couple times of week or it may change.

What makes you think? Just curious because we were starting to get suspicious of Mishka, our australorp. Today we got two eggs, one that looks like what Munch the black star has been laying typically, and a darker brown one:

A friend has a flock of Red Sex Links and sometimes they have a few eggs like the speckled one.
