I've seen some pictures of beautiful chocolate colored eggs that look like they are pretty good size. I am wondering what breed would lay that kind of egg. I'm getting spring fever and pretty sure I "need" a few more birds

Black Copper Marans lay a really large Dark chocolate egg. Not all but they are the breed that has the potential too. Some Welsummers do too.

My Feather Legged Cuckoo Marans lay some pretty big dark eggs and they are fairly regular, too.

My black copper marans lay big chocolate eggs! They're really good layers, too

I think it is Onthespot or onthespotdozens anyhow... they have some dark hatching eggs they sell on the auctions here. VERY PRETTY.

lol...I should've have expected that, especially this close to easter!

Ok, so I did a quick look at Maran's and read in one post that someone didn't like the taste of their Maran's eggs....do they really taste different? I have Rocks & RIR right now...I don't really think I can tell a difference in flavor between those and store-bought

But now I am curious....are there breeds that have yucky eggs? Not that I would be able to tell the difference

I don't own any Marans, so I don't know. Maybe Marans eggs have a wilder taste? Maybe it is what they are feeding them? I know duck eggs taste different than chicken eggs.
