There's not much to say.
I love my leghorns and american buff Orps are about the top of my 0 interest in breeds.

Why? I’ve never had any, but the people I know who have them LOVE them. Just curious...

Do the people that you know that love them have a lot of experience with many different breeds?
Buff orps are very popular and even when feed stores only have a handful of breeds buff orps will be one of them.
I think thats what accounts for so many loving them.
Ive raised them a few different times and theyre a nice average laying breed but I feel theyre over rated. Compared to Leghorns they mature slowly, eat too much, don't lay as well or as big of eggs.
In my set up and more so in my past set up I need a bird that does well free ranging. I like ones that forage well and are aware enough and physical enough to say alive. Thats not buff orps.
I don't eat my birds or they would have the advantage there. Ive also had plenty of nasty roosters which I don't experience with leghorns.
Just not a bird that fits in my situation and the fact that theyre everywhere makes them less appealing to me.
