I know there are pages of information on here already about silkies, but I am not really finding what I am looking for.
We are not new to chickens but new to showing. I know that to get the birds in show condition and keep them there, they have to be housed properly. We have purchased 3 show white pairs from a poultry judge near here to start with.
My goal is to house 5 trios and 5 spare males. I plan to stop saving hatching eggs by the end of may, moult the breeders to bring them into fall show season.
So, what size pens would you use for housing a trio of show birds? they will be inside birds.
Would you use solid floor pens with shavings, or wire floor pens?
Would you build pens up on the wall over the lower pens of would you leave them all on the floor? How would you house single roosters?
thanks for any of the questions that you might be able to answer for me
