Who should we breed our Buff Orpington roo to?

I had a beautiful EE mix once, not part BO, but we never had a pullet colored like her after we lost her possible father.....

I think, for uniqueness, the SLW would make a cool mix of the BO rooster! (You have such great chicken breeds, and I am sure whatever you choose it will be amazing! )

What criteria do you use for choosing the hens you like best?

Well, that's a work in progress, but:

Health and vigor.
Temperament -- they don't have to be lap pets, but not flighty/panicky and not bullies.
Balanced conformation with a healthy solidity when picked up -- but not fat.
Growth history.
Egg production.
Eye appeal according to my personal tastes.

These factors subject to change. If I become interested in a specific breed I will work toward the SOP.

I recommend cross breeding your roster with a Rhode Island Red, letting the chicks have a wide egg production from their mother, and hardiness in the winter thanks to there father.
