I had a pair of black sex link female pullets I raised from chicks, they free range the yard when I’m home during the day. Today when I went outside I saw a vulture had gotten one. I found the other one hiding in a dense pine tree. I feel so bad for my lone pullet. I know she needs a friend but idk how to go about it. Should I get a chick to raise until it’s older to put in with her? Or I probably can’t raise the chick alone and then I wouldn’t want those chicks to have a bond that my pullet wouldn’t have with them? Google gives me mixed answers!

Hello, and welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join us! :frow

So sorry for your loss. :hugs
How old is your pullet? I'd try to find some more girls her age, but if she's young enough getting some chicks would probably work out.
Thank you! I’m new to raising chickens and I put so much research and love into raising them and built a fully covered coop for them and never expected a day time tragedy :hit My pullet is just now 10 weeks. She was the more submissive one and followed her sisters lead. She seems very distraught and I’m nervous and older pullet might bully her.

I'd try the best you can to find some other pullets around her age, that's the best way to go.
Give your pullet some extra love, sounds like she needs it!

Okay I will! Does breed matter?
Breed is not too much of an issue, except for getting crested breeds.
Often times when you only get one crested breed they tend to be picked on. So best to have at least two crested breeds in a flock! That's really the only thing to worry about.

Sorry for your loss.
Vultures aren't known for killing prey, she was very likely killed by something else and the Vulture was cleaning up the mess
Remember, to always quarantine any new older birds for atleast a month just to make sure they're healthy.
Thank you. I didn’t think so but I figured everything else would take it away
