Who vaccinates their birds?

I've never vaccinated my birds. Ive never really looked into it.
We just mainly try to keep them up to date on vitamins and ACV in their water.
Pmv is kinda rare for it to come into contact often within a loft.

Right on. Yeah, I don't race, only loft fly and train on tosses within a few miles only to get my birds dialed in in case they loft fly too far, and for exercise. It think the main PMV risk is with races and show competitions.

If you want to keep those birds vaccinated you should look into the booster intervals, most bird vaccines require annual boosters.

I've been thinking about vaccinating for PMV and maybe even paratyphoid/salmonella. The vaccines are pretty expensive. Just trying to weigh my options and see what everybody else does.

Here in Israel a new castle diseases vaccine is obligatory by law.

Israel is usually ahead of the curve on most things.... How much do the vaccines cost in Israel? Do you have pigeons, or other birds?

It's really depends, I can buy a NC vaccine that can be used on 1000 birds(It is the minimum! ) for less then 5 $ the same for fowl pox.
But you can find a combination of phatogens vaccine like Gamburo, Avian influenza etc for higher prices.

I also am trying to decide if it's time to start vaccinating for pm v as have been getting birds from several origins but don't show or race at this point in time. I checked 2 of the major pigeon supply co. in US and both were $140 for 100 dose vial excluding freight. Must be given away from breeding season.

I don't race or show anymore, so I no longer vaccinate. I haven't even brought in any new birds for a number of years. I haven't even used any medications on my birds in probably 10 years. Ferals can be a source of PMV, but luckily I don't have any hanging around my birds

Where did you get your conure? My uncle in Tel Aviv at least at some point was breeding birds like that, not sure if he does anymore though. Not sure how many places there are to get birds like that in Israel, but then again, it seems lots of people there really like cage birds, so who knows.

That is crazy how cheap you can get that NC vaccine. Sounds like we're dealing with a bit of a racket here in the US...

We got it from a breeder in Ramat-Gan here you can find almost any kind of bird you want.
