Goodness what a nightmare. Good on you though! Its a shame things have to be like that with your own neighbour:mad:
We have 2 cockerels and they are pretty loud, but we're fortunate to have a great neighbour, although some barns close by were just converted so we will have new people there (and more than just one neighbour). They have to expect farm noises in the countryside, but some people are completely unreasonable! One of them already shouted at my little sisters. Snotty people make me grr
Anyway good luck, i hope it works out ok for you

I'm very lucky since we bought our place, that my neighbors like my chickens and bees. Of course, they should, given the amount of eggs and honey they get from me. If things hadn't escalated to this point I'd say kill her with kindness and a dozen eggs from time to time. Sounds like it's beyond that point though.

I've had to deal with nasty neighbors in other places. Woke up one morning to find my garden totally ripped out (we were both renting). I've never understood why the heck he'd want to do that. Police weren't much help saying they couldn't prove anything. That is, until I pointed out the footprints throught the dirt and told him they certainly weren't mine. Turns out the neighbor only had one pair of boots and they were a most lovely perfect match. Can you say eviction!?!?!?

It's definately worth fighting, but it still might be in your chickens best interest to move the coop, just so you don't have to deal with more dead birds. And get a necropsy. Should it turn out to be poison, then for goodness sakes, press charges. People can't be allowed to pull this crap.

I like the motion light idea. You can bet I'd be out there ASAP with at least a camera (or maybe something a little more powerful) should that light ever come on. And think about the bonus of your neighbor being awakened by the light should you have anything like deer or a stray cat wandering through.

What a shame that would be.

Good luck.

I'm so sorry about your situation.... Always keep your camera charged! Maybe you can set up some security cameras, if you can afford it or maybe just set up some decoy cameras, make that stupid lady think she's being watched.
I hate that for you & your birds... stupid people

For about a hundred bucks you can buy one of the motion sensor cameras that Wal-Mart sells. It doesn't activate until it detects movement.

What a pill!! UGH!

I have a feeling I will be going through something similar to this. We bought our farm 2 years ago. When we walked the property line with the seller, she pointed out the property markers. Well, on the SW corner, there was a fence post, and a cinderblock marking the corner. Last summer...I went out to find the post and block, thrown up against my barn...and the nabor had mowed, about 3 feet past the line. I was peeved, but just put them right back. A week later....same thing...so again, I put them back....another week or so goes by....the post is GONE, and the block is busted up...ok, NOW im peeved! All summer long, they would mow...a little further inside the line....well....last week. DH and I come home from town, to see the owners of the property had cut down a comunal Mulberry tree..and had mowed about 10 feet inside the line, and threw the tree brush over the line about 5 ft. So...my son and I went out there yesterday...moved ALL the brush BACK to thier side...and started the fence posts. Oh, I forgot...when DH and I saw them cutting this...we stqrted to walk over there, and they all jumped in thier trucks and left before we could get to them. I have no idea where the property owner lives...but I feel they are going to put ANOTHER trailer in there for more renters. So, I told DH...IF they give me crap about this....I WILL get a few hogs..and guess where they are going!!!! Lets see if thier renters will like that!! Good luck with your nabor...I hope no more chickens are hurt..

Good morning everyone, thanks for the motion sensor camera idea Robin. And Mark, tried the eggs before she complained. Terrielacy, I cannot move the coop and run, no other place for it, it has to stay there, but like I said, I am putting the fence up 9' high along side her house so it would be really hard to through anything over that. I hardly slept at all last night, seems like I had 1 eye open all night

.
Llysse, I tried to get a necropsy, but it was going to cost $100 dollars here in texas + more money for any toxicology tests done and he told me (TX A&M Vet) it would be hard for me to prove anything anyway.

Justusnak, get those no trespassing signs and the first time they are on your property call the police, it works.

jm..I posted on the side of my barn....and those renters BRATS keep trying to pry the door open. We have a lock on it...but they are tearing the wood away, slowly. UGH~! THATS why we are putting the fence up! And, possibly getting hogs!
