Who wants to ramble or even vent!

Hey @DobieLover @sourland @Weeg do you know anything about outside cameras for protecting my flock? Apparently foxes are a creature of habit and have their own patch that they patrol, if I knew when to expect him, I’ll be ready!! 💥💥
Well... the thing about cameras is, they don't protect against anything. I have them but more for watching the flock remotely to witness natural behaviors without me being there. And just to keep an eye on things. They are Wyze cameras.

I have my flock inside a coop/run combo that has 1/2" hardware cloth over all openings and a predator apron around the entire structure. The whole thing is contained within an electrified fence that encloses roughly 1/3 acre.

It is that fence that protects them from ground predators.

Three times I forgot to close the door to the run and went out the following morning to the chickens greeting me in the pen. The fence does it's job keeping critters out at night.

Aerial threats are always present. They have a very large, very thick shrub in the pen that can easily cover the entire flock of 27 and then some. Plus the run with a solid roof.

Hawks still strike. I lost my first bird to a hawk a bit over a month ago. A young pullet that was not savvy to keeping an eye to the sky or listening to the roosters. Her brother and sisters are much more alert since the loss.

We are working on getting the predator proof finished this weekend, but the reason for the cameras is so I can figure out what time he crosses our land. I did think about shooting it..but 1, I’d probably cry 🤦‍♀️ 2, another fox would just take over the territory. I plan to have my 3 dogs out to chase it away then hopefully it will avoid coming back after a few scares.

So I have decided to go with the Victure HC200. I have ordered 2 which will be delivered tomorrow from Amazon prime. The ring one (a really good one) was a bit to expensive for what I want it for. We already have a home security system that covers all entrances and surrounding areas, just not the stables or paddocks.
