Who will get the first egg?

My first & only chickens, Mildred & Louise (slw) are about 18 weeks old. I realize I may not get my first egg until spring, but would anyone here like to buy it? The price will only be about $1400, which is roughly what I've spent so far in my chicken endeavor.
What I wasn't prepared for, in spite of all my research & planning, was how attached I would become to these little fluffy butts! They are worth every penny.

We purchased our home 25 years ago (we ain't young folk), so I had no idea I would get bitten by the chicken bug later in life. Hubby's like a boat anchor & won't move so I got only 2 chickens. They have a playpen I drag around the yard so they can forage safely (only when I'm there to supervise).

That's wonderful. I hope you enjoy them. Really, in a lot of ways, you can't put a price on the chicken life style.

Only $1400? Wow, you got off easy! Our first egg is going to be around $4500, but that's mostly because I ended going bonkers on making a large, sturdy, predator-proof (except for bears) coop/run, and I had no tools initially, so had to buy saws, saw-horse, drill, etc.

And yes, I hear you on the attachment! Aren't chickens so adorable? Even when they're naughty, they're still endearing. I love my four fluffy butts so much.

And where does it end? Is it fair to count tools purchased "against" the chickens? You purchased them because of chickens but you can use them for other things not chicken related.

Good point. But I doubt I'll ever use most of those tools (especially the saw) again. I just don't have the need.
