We are having company this weekend so I am saving up the pretty EE eggs for them to share. I am outa store eggs tho, but refusing to buy them (yet). So we're not having eggs for breakfast for the last couple days....

they are just too pretty to eat!!! yet.

i don't eat a lot of eggs maybe 2-4 a week and some times none but i love those chicken that we raise. hate the eggs that i buy at the stores they don't taste like egg's .

I'm throwing a BBQ for 30 people this weekend and it just occurred to me to maybe make deviled eggs. But I've only got a dozen eggs. Oh well.... no deviled eggs for us!

my hubby is the oviraptor in the family, but we just got our chicks. the first day home they were in the kitchen and dinner was supposed to be... chicken. i felt way too bad, we had pizza instead. the chicks are now in the garage and if dh wants chicken he has to cook it himself.... i make tofu. dh told our 4yo that the chicks were for chicken nuggets so when he wants nuggets he specifies 'not from our chickens mom' LOL.

My 14 yo son is afraid of my chickens. When he has to take them scraps or lock their pop door I hear him telling them to leave him alone or he will turn them into chicken nuggets!

My DH taunts them when he puts chicken breasts on the grill! Must be a boy thing!!

If you are making devilled eggs, the store bought ones are better, because the fresh ones don't seem to peel as well. Maybe use the storebought ones for the whites, but substitute your home-grown yolks? Much better taste.

I used to think that too. However there was a thread on here a while back that really helped. I have done this with eggs layed the very same day and it works! Bring the water to a boil, carefully add eggs, set timer for 15 minutes. Drain and run cold water over them. Sometimes I even add some ice to cool them faster. Peel as soon as they are cool. It really works wonderfully. Once in a while I get 1 that sticks, but that's for me!!
