I know this thread is old, but I wanted to find some other north carolinians that are nearby. My family are extremely new to raising chickens. We just ordered our first flock of 25 plus a freebie. We will not receive them until April 23. So we have time to get the coops built. Yes the coops. I want one for my bantams and I want to keep them in a more secure location than my husband wants to keep his that are for egg layers. I am in Leland, so maybe there are still some of you peeps near by. I have lots of questions. From brooder set up size to if it is okay to keep the flock into two diffrent coops and then let the out to hang together from time to time.

Wilmington nc here got 8 chicks and an almost finished coop. I have 4 sex links 2 jersey giants and 2 americaunas Hopefully all hens but time will tell I think one of my giants is a roo. I will have to let him go if so I cannot have rooster here

Topsail Island.... any idea what the ordinance is for the island for a small coop????

check with the town online has info usually... i have some nice small coop designs for sale on craigslist...
