No offense, just being honest here - YUCK!!! I've done website work for the National Park Service and others, so I know a thing or two on this subject. Get yourself a color wheel (lots of free ones on the web) and pick 3 complimentary colors that are slightly muted. Avoid primary and other really bright colors. The retina of the eye can only be stimulated so much before it becomes annoying and distracting to the brain! Mine's got to go take a vacation now
I own a company that creates websites and corporate identities and one of the things you learn in this business is how color effects people. Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design, not a background though as it is hard on the eyes.
You can tone down a bright white background by using #EFEFEF or #F5F5F5.
Another suggestion that may help is to look at other website color combinations, or websites that are similar to yours such as http://www.funtrivia.com/quizzes/index.cfm. This website uses yellow, but its a muted tone and is not used as the primary background. There are also free backgrounds available on the web that you may like, or get inspired to create your own.
