I have one pipping. I just went into lockdown last night. 44 total to hatch. One down and hopefully 43 more to go. I am hatching RIRs. I always seem to have early hatches.
Good luck! That's a whole lot of hatching!

Okay, HERE are the babies... well, some of them.
The yellow ones show up so much better against the dark purple... I'll have to find a lighter backdrop for an Orpington, Black Copper Marans shoot.![]()

Even a lot of phones are great for pics today Mine is as bad as my camera. Guess i need to trade up one or the other
.,Are sticky chicks from too much humidity ? I read it but have forgotten.
still waiting to see any movement in that pip...i guess it is going to wait for the others now. Must have looked up and said..hey, nobody is at the party yet.![]()
well, i have a staggered hatch.... thanks to the timing on ebay and different shipping days....LOL.
i originally started with:
6 silver sussex eggs
6 assorted turkey eggs
10 white leghorn cross
i put them in my shed to incubate and then later decided to break out another incubator and put it in my bedroom. this is when i added 20 speckled sussex eggs.
out of the 6 silver sussex eggs only 1 hatchedthe rest died late in the incubation period
none of the turkey eggs showed any veins like they hadn't even started (could be the excessive heat in the shed or the shipping)
none of the white leghorn crosses hatched (some died early in the developement and others later on)
i'm hoping that the speckled sussex eggs will do better as they are in a more controlled temperature room. fingers crossed for them .... please
don
I have read if they die in varous stages it can be heat or also it can be shipping as i have had that a lot and all my eggs are shipped. I average 25-33% hatch so far.The heat in your shed may not have been high enough to kill them unless it goes to like 120 or more.Someone said they do a controlled hatch by using their own eggs or local ones to see how they do along with the shipped. Good idea if you can.An even temperature sure does make a difference though or has to me. I put my Hova bator in the closet and it settled the temp down quite a bit Also seemed to me the more eggs i had in the better it did.Well I had 14 in last time so not that many but more than 6.Yeah and i left my air on even on good days so the house wouldnt get hot and then cool and mess up my temps.Good luck on your sussex!!
