Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Im dedicated to getting me some baby silkies! If my air keeps freezing up like this then my eggs are gonna go to my doctors appointment with me this tuesday.

. that will be fun explaining. but at least its my family doctor not a psychiatrist. if that were the case I probly wouldnt be going home that night to put them back in the bator.

just chiming in. I set some on the 11th and 12th

some icelandic's that are from my own.
plus some olive eggers and easter eggers that are with my icelandic rooster as well.
Mostly seeing if my incubator is working good before I order more pricy penedesenca eggs.

And this is why I set up the 'bator down in the basement.
It is too easy to candle and handle anywhere else.
I candle at 11 days and right before lockdown.
In nature, temps and humidity go up and down within an acceptable range. Let it be.
Let heat and humidity do their thing and it really will be fine.
Get the brooder ready.

Unless there is a smell, I leave all eggs in until day 18 (even the clear ones). I noticed that my temp and humidity are effected by the number of eggs and if I remove the undeveloped or quitters, I have to readjust the settings.

I suck at incubating eggs but I'm new to this whole thing but since my failed hatch I have read and studied a lot and have more eggs on the way, I also had time to fine tune and adjust my home incubator, also I did order a turbobator from amazon.

Nice to meet you COOPER12! I looked at your profile, you have got some really nice birds! I love Penedesencas, I also noticed that you had some Golden Campines. I have a lonely Campine rooster that I do not know what to do with. I don't want to sound rude, but would it be possible to get some eggs from you? Maybe we could swap? PM me and we can make a deal. i am on day 12 for one batch and have 9 eggs. they are in the hovabator genesis and I have a good feeling this time that I will hatch something. i have a staggered hatch going and the second batch is on day 4.

can't wait for LOCKDOWN.........(chanting---> I promise to keep my hands out)... oo I am thinking about taping it shut so I can't open it.

Wanna come tape mine closed while you're at it? I can't stop candling. I've been doing it almost every night; but I was reading that most of the new incubators offer a "cool down" phase once a day for 30-60 minutes, it's supposed to mimic the hen getting off the eggs to go eat and drink in nature, from what I've read, it's been pretty successful....so I keep telling myself that my candling is just the daily cool down period! lol

i threw out some more duds...they were getting smelly. I got an egg in there deveopling and the shell is bending... Not sure if I should just toss it or not. I dont want it to go bad and then ruin the rest of my hatch. But the shell is pushing outwards. when I candle it is a weak spot in the shell. looks like a line where it did not get much calcium. so weird...
