I am still learning a lot about color combinations and find it fascinating yet confusing at times. I get some of the obvious like black x black = 100% black and such. What I have trouble with is the diluting and leaking on certain color and combinations. That being said I have two really pretty Easter Egger chicks that will be 8 weeks old this weekend. I know that the mother is my Splash Orpington but I am trying to figure out if the daddy is the red Easter Egger I sold or my remaining Lavender Ameraucana. Especially with the one I believe to be a cockerel, I want to know if this color combination is from the lavender. It looks like it will turn out to be a really pretty bird and I would like to know if there is a chance for other chicks with the same color combination.
Also, if it is with the Lavender roo, is this color combination only visible or achievable with roos?
here are the 2 chicks in question. The first is a photo of the one I am thinking will be a pullet and was taken at 6 weeks. I am thinking that her daddy is the lavender roo
these next few pics are of the one I think is a cockerel and was taken the other day, so roughly 7.5 weeks old
the red and blue one is the one I am trying to figure out who the daddy is.
